Dr. William Mitchell co-founded the Maynor & Mitchell Eye Center along with Dr. Robert Maynor in 1999. An Auburn, Alabama, native, Dr. Mitchell studied medicine at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. His residency in ophthalmology was completed at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.

With a reputation for being a leader in cataract surgery and for leveraging the most up-to-date surgical methods available today, he was the first in the region to introduce the Crystalens® intraocular lens in post-cataract treatment. His storied experience, his caring, and personalized approach, combined with a consummate commitment to delivering top-notch service and high-tech expertise in the area of ophthalmology have made him one of the top eye surgeons in the North Alabama area.

Dr. Mitchell belongs to the International Society of Refractive Surgery and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons as well as the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
